Where is a good place to buy men's dress shoes?

It seems like all the large department stores are replacing formal dress shoes with casual styles.

Where is a good place to buy men%26#039;s dress shoes?
The best company to find great quality men%26#039;s shoes is Allen Edmond (www.allenedmonds.com). You can find them in nicer department stores (ie. Neimans). I%26#039;m also not a big fan of the contemporary/casual shoe and they have some great classic designs that%26#039;ll last for years.

Where to buy quality branded dress shoes(men's) at affordable price in NYC?

Where to buy quality branded dress shoes(men%26#039;s) at affordable price in NYC? I recently moved to NYC and began to work in the financial industry. My work requires me to wear quality collared shirts and good branded formal dress shoes all day long. I am considering buying the dress shoes. But I am not very familiar with brands. Of course I can go to expensive places to buy expensive shoes. However I am a new graduate freshly out of school and I don%26#039;t have lots of cash floating. Where are the places that I can buy quality branded shoes at discounted and affordable prices? Where and when are the discounts and deals? Are there places with lots of malls and shops for shoes, something like an outlet, so I can shop at one place for all needs, instead of rushing to different places? I am still not very used to the public transportation in the big city. And I really want to save time. What brands are considered good brands for men? I hope to buy $200-$600 shoes at a discounted $100-$300 price.

If you%26#039;re in the Financial District, Century 21 across from Ground Zero is a good store. Syms is also nearby on Trinity Place. Men%26#039;s Wearhouse may be a bit pricier, but they should also have good deals and there%26#039;s one on Broadway and Cedar St.

Try on those shoes at the local retailers, take notes, then purchase them on Ebay. You will soon realize that retailers from all over the country will probably be discounting the same shoes to sell in volume. You will save a bunch of money this way.

I have had great luck on Ebay. Just make sure that if you want new shoes, that they state new.

Good luck!

Loehmann%26#039;s carries men%26#039;s designer shoes at a huge discount

Both Macy%26#039;s and Lord %26amp; Taylor carry good men%26#039;s shoes; look for sales and clearances - you can%26#039;t beat the prices if they%26#039;re running a sale (there are also 15% coupons printed in the Daily News - usually Tuesday and Wednesday) and, if you open a Macy%26#039;s charge account, the day you open it, you get an additional 10% off.
Reply:I agree with the post above...

Century 21 is a great place to shop for name brands for less. You can also try

DSW

40 E 14th St

It%26#039;s a HUGE shoe store! Bigger than a supermarket...lol.

You can find Prada, Fendi, Ferragamo...etc.
Reply:Go to Union Square (Feline%26#039;s Basement building also includes a large discount shoe store if you can%26#039;t find what you want at Felines%26#039;s) and look around. That is not too far from NY University.

If you%26#039;re looking for discounts, I would take a walk around in the financial district. You can check out Syms and Century 21. You will also see several discount small shoe stores.

Good luck!

How to buy men's dress shoes, hard sole or rubber sole?

I%26#039;m looking to get new dress shoes to wear with my suit. What are the difference between rubber sole and hard sole dress shoes? Rubber sole doesnt make clapping noise when you walk on hard floor compared to hard sole soles. The clapping noise gets kind of annoying. Are certain sole choes for certain occasssion? Such as the hard sole for special occassion Anyways this shoes will be more for job interviews and presentations.

How to buy men%26#039;s dress shoes, hard sole or rubber sole?
The leather soles breathe better, so if you have a smelly feet problem, don%26#039;t get rubber soles.
Reply:If you are a boss then you can clap your leather soles all you want.

Letahre stitched soles are often sign of a better made shoes than a rubber sole variety.

I use rubber-sole shoe sonly in a rainy weather. Report It

Reply:Must wear soft always if you dont want feet problems.
Reply:Ask a guy at Mens%26#039; Warehouse (but be sure they%26#039;re not only selling one type of shoe).

In my humble opinion, it seems that our hard-soled shoes are more formal. I would prefer them for an actual interview (unless I had to wear them for hours on end).

Of course, hard soles make noise, but that can be minimized. It%26#039;s kind of like how women have to learn to wear heels -we have to learn how to wear %26quot;guy-heels.%26quot; Bear in mind, it can sound professional to walk assertively, but can sound like you are a clumsy oaf if you are making too much noise.
Reply:I think for job interviews and presentations you%26#039;d want to stick with a more formal shoe, which the hard sole would be.

But for everyday work I%26#039;d go with the rubber, I mean why not?
Reply:You can find rubber soles to match a suit, you just may need to look around. Try Steve Madden. They are a tad pricey but nice shoes for all occassions.
Reply:just remember. Stiched not glued. Glued is cheap. stiched is better.

Are Vegan (leather-free) men's dress shoes available with Velcro?

I%26#039;m looking for some dress (business-casual) shoes, appropriate from work. My current shoes are by SAS, with Velcro -- and they%26#039;re perfect except that I would like to find a pair of shoes with synthetic leather this time. I wear roughly a US size 10-1/2, probably on the wider side. Something like the Kelsey Shoe by Vegetarian Shoes, but with Velcro, would be great.

Ideally, they would look and feel similar to leather (I.E. not stand out when going on job interviews etc).

Cost is not a huge concern, as long as the general price range isn%26#039;t too far over $100.

Comfortable men's dress shoes?

I need to buy dress shoes that would be appropriate in a normal business setting. I am wondering what brands or types would be the most comfortable for wearing all day or for moderate walking. I am willing to sacrifice style for comfort, as long as they will still be acceptable with slacks or a basic suit.

Thanks to everyone in advance for your answers!

Comfortable men%26#039;s dress shoes?
My favorite comfortable mens dress shoes are:

Florsheim%26#039;s

www.florsheim.com

These are a little more expensive but unbeatable in comfort. I wore a pair of these until the soles wore out. I had a job that I was on my feet for 8 hours a day and lifting heavy boxes. These shoes are amazing. The ones that I bought were comfortable out of the box, some dress shoes need to be broken in. They had a hard type sole and leather uppers that needed to be polished every once in a while. These are the best dress shoes that i have found. They are stylish and look great with a suit.

The next best dress shoes are Rockport%26#039;s

www.rockport.com

I have a pair of these and wore them to work everyday, when I worked in Germany. I didnt have a car and walked everywhere, very comfortable and durable. A little less expensive and less dressy than the Florsheims. This is a great shoe for allot of walking around. They do require some breaking in, but once they do they feel great.
Reply:Born handmade shoes of leather. They can last you years, however are price.

Dansko, excellent quality, and comfort pricey, yes.

Rockport as mentioned above.

Doc Maartens. If all else go on Ebay and get some used ones if you can%26#039;t afford the regular price.

Which men's dress-casual shoes will last the longest and are still a good deal?

I have tended to buy cheaper shoes that look nice and are comfortable, but don%26#039;t last long. I want to find the %26#039;middle%26#039; ground%26#039; of a good brand of men%26#039;s shoes that will last me a long time, but that won%26#039;t break the bank. Any experience or advice?

Which men%26#039;s dress-casual shoes will last the longest and are still a good deal?
Hush Puppies, Aldo, Arnold Churgin, Rockports, there are tons of brands that make middle range, reasonably priced shoes. Some people are just hard on them no matter how much or little they are used. Go for real leather, not plastic pleather faux cow hide crap. Thick soles, nothing flimsey. And make sure they are a good fit. Shoes too big will bend and crack. Shoes too small will cause foot pain and you won%26#039;t want to wear them as much, or you%26#039;ll wear the heels out unevenly by walking funny.

Hit the malls man.
Reply:Doctor Martens are the only way to go.
Reply:Go to %26quot;Bob%26#039;s Stores%26quot; (they have a good selection of mens shoes) or %26quot;Famous Footwear%26quot; and get yourself a pair of sketchers.

They are not real expensive, they last a long time, they look cool and they are wicked comfortable.
Reply:Weston. been wearing the same pair once a week for 15 years. they look as new. only catch $600 a pair. but they last for ever.

in the store, in paris, i saw an indian guy come in with like 10 pairs to have resoled. the shoes were 20 years old on average. bottom line. they last.

How to stop black dye coming of men's dress shoes??

I bought some new men%26#039;s black dress shoes from Nordstrom and there is black stuff coming off the outside leather and getting on my jeans. If I rub my finger or a tissue against the outside leather their is black stuff coming off. Is it dye? It can%26#039;t be shoe polish because i%26#039;ve never had them polished. Anyway, I tried to buy a different pair and had the same problem. WTF is going on with these shoes? So now I just have to figure out how to stop this dye? from coming off. How do I do this? I don%26#039;t want this getting all over my jeans.

Any insight to my problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark

How to stop black dye coming of men%26#039;s dress shoes??
your best bet to my way of thinking is to take a rag and shine your shoes ......hopefully most of the excess polish will rub off on to the rag.....keep changing the side of cloth till no more polish comes off.....hold the cloth from two ends and pressing down pull it this way and that across the surface of the shoe
Reply:I think that it is shoe polish, even if you haven%26#039;t taken them to get polished, the makers polish them to make them look better so they would sell. Why not try to go to some shoe fixing place and ask if they have a way to clean it up.

Quality Men's Dress Shoes?

Seems like nothing is made to last nowadays but I%26#039;m wondering is there a quality men%26#039;s dress shoe out there that lasts longer than 3 months with constant use? Because I have yet to find one.

I%26#039;ve checked Walmart, Globo, Payless and an assortment of smaller stores and find that all the black dress shoes I%26#039;ve boughten regardless of style split width-wide across the sole and have holes form within the sole due to wear and tear all within 2-3 months time. It%26#039;s expensive and I%26#039;d just like to find a brand that can handle constant use for at least 6 months to a year and not break my bank account while doing so.

Quality Men%26#039;s Dress Shoes?
I hope you are joking... QUALITY mens shoes at Walmart or Payless??? Men%26#039;s dress shoes are an INVESTMENT. Buy a pair of Allen Edmonds.... they will last you forever, and you can get them resoled every few years. Instead of paying for cheap garbage every few montsh, spend the money now and get something worth having that will last.
Reply:all quality men%26#039;s dress shoes, are Italian!

You might need to go somewhere special to get them, but they are so worth it.
Reply:You probably need to check out more expensive places like some department stores like Nordstrom or Macys. You%26#039;ll find quality shoes there that will last you more than just 2-3 months. Walmart and Payless is not good quality.
